Manitowoc Shoreline Cruise for Badgers and Packers Fans
Calling all Cheeseheads and Badgers! Show your Wisconsin team spirit on the newest S.S. Badger Cruise — the GO PACKERS — GO BADGERS Shoreline Cruise Sept. 1 along the Wisconsin shoreline of Lake Michigan!
With football season just getting started, there’s a new way to tailgate with your friends and make some new ones over your favorite Wisconsin sports team. Climb aboard the S.S. Badger Saturday, Sept. 1 for the GO PACKERS – GO BADGERS Shoreline Cruise dressed in your favorite team colors — or both, for that matter!
This fun, new Manitowoc cruise gives Cheeseheads and Badgers alike a way to celebrate team spirit.
“People are die-hard football fans in Wisconsin, so we figured – why not make a cruise to give Wisconsinites a chance to celebrate their teams?” says Jena Stalmack, lead cruise director for the S.S. Badger. “We did a similar cruise for Michigan and Michigan State fans, but this is the first time for Wisconsin teams.”
Board this two-hour cruise at the Manitowoc port starting at 1 p.m. CT, and enjoy a two-hour cruise along the Manitowoc/Two Rivers shoreline from 2 to 4 p.m. The $42 per-person ticket price includes the S.S. Badger Football Party Buffet with fun tailgate food — walking tacos, brats, chips, veggies, fruit, pasta salad and baked beans, plus themed cake (one for each team). Soft drinks are included, and a cash bar is available with drink specials as well as wine and beer, including from Wisconsin-based New Glarus Brewing Company. And unlike the cross-lake cruises, servers will walk around and take your drink orders for added service.
DJ Shimmy D will be onboard to keep the football spirit exciting, playing the fight songs to get you pumped up plus dance music.
Be sure to participate in the “biggest team spirit” contest, with one prize awarded for the most passionately dressed fan for each team, who will win free round-trip passage on the Badger for two people. If you don’t have your own props, duck into the Badger Boutique gift shop where you can buy a Cheesehead hat, jewelry, and other cheese-related gear. For added bling, you can get your face painted with a “W” or a “G.”
The cruise event is family-friendly too — almost all usual kids’ activities offered during Lake Michigan crossings are available during the shoreline cruise, including the movie Lounge showing free feature-length films and the Movie Lounge showing free feature-length films and Gaming Lounge with five high-definition gaming stations.
“This cruise is a great way to kick off football season and celebrate your team without going to a game — kind of a tailgate with a twist,” says Jena.
