What's New - 2018 Badger Sailing Season
Let's get started, shall we? Here's a rundown of the latest Badger happenings.
Tickets on Sale for 2018 Season
Don't let the winter weather fool you - ticket sales have already started for the 2018 sailing season. Purchase tickets now for any 2018 sailing date, from the maiden voyage May 11 through the last day of the season in October. And if you book within the next few months you can lock in our lowest fare of $59 per adult for a one-way trip or $177 for two adults with auto for a one-way trip for any scheduled crossing during the season. After this, these "best value" fares will be available only on the 8:45 p.m. crossing from Ludington and 1:30 a.m. crossing from Manitowoc. Tickets can be purchased online, via phone at 800-841-4243, or in person at the two port ticket offices that open May 7.
Celebrate our 65th with Vintage Cruise
As the last coal-fired steamship in the United States, the S.S. Badger has a storied history. Built in 1953, the Badger turns 65 years old in 2018 - and we plan to celebrate! We are featuring a special Vintage Badger 1953 Anniversary Cruise at each port: June 2, 2-4 p.m. CT (boarding time at 1:30 p.m. CT) in Manitowoc; and June 3, 9-11 p.m. ET (boarding time at 8:30 p.m. ET) in Ludington. Step back in time to 1953 when the Badger first set sail by wearing 50s rock or vintage dress attire while you enjoy the sights and sounds of 1953 - including original menu items, 1950s rock and big band tunes, original staff uniforms, 50s trivia and more. Tickets are $42 (children under 5 are free) and include an authentic 1953 buffet with desserts, soft drinks, and two cash bars. Space is limited, and tickets can be purchased online, by phone at 800-841-4243 in March, or by visiting the Ludington or Manitowoc ticket offices after May 6. Note: Shoreline cruises are non-refundable and happen rain or shine.
New GO PACKERS - GO BADGERS Shoreline Cruise
In addition to the Anniversary Cruise, we’ve also added a new cruise to celebrate two of Wisconsin’s biggest sports teams – the GO PACKERS - GO BADGERS Shoreline Cruise Sept. 1, 2-4 p.m. CT from Manitowoc (boarding begins at 1 p.m. CT). DJ Shimmy D will be on board keeping the football spirit exciting as the ship cruises along the Manitowoc/Two Rivers shoreline. Wear your Packers and Badgers colors, and you could win free passes on the Badger. The ticket price of $42 per person includes party buffet and soft drinks. A cash bar also is available with drink specials. Space is limited, and we expect this shoreline cruise to sell out early! Purchase tickets online, by phone at 800-841-4243 starting in March, or at the Manitowoc Ticket Office after May 6.
New Ship Features
While we've been around 65 years, we continue to add amenities to make your Lake Michigan crossing as enjoyable as possible. If you haven't traveled with us in a while, here are some of our newest features!
Bloody Mary Bar
While we've always offered cocktails and beer to help you toast your mini cruise across Lake Michigan, we are mixing things up - literally - with a Bloody Mary bar. Start with a 16 oz. double-shot and build your Bloody Mary from there with our vast assortment of condiments.
Smoothies, Lemonades, and Frappés - Oh My!
If Bloody Marys aren't your drink of choice, order a refreshing smoothie, frozen lemonade, or frappé for an energizing start to your vacation.
Create your own fresh entrée from the new cafe on the upper deck starting with a base of a salad, burrito bowl, burrito, or nachos; add mix-ins like garden ingredients, rice and beans; and top with your choice of protein (chicken, beef, or pork).
Get Your Game Face On
There are plenty of options to fill your cruise time, including five high-definition gaming stations stocked with many popular titles. Younger kids will enjoy a Captain Conrad scavenger hunt where you hunt for his signs throughout the Badger while learning interesting facts about the ship. Kids receive a prize when they turn in their completed forms to the Cruise Director's office.
Show Your Badger Pride!
As we kick off our 65th season, we want to hear what you love about your beloved Badger! Post your favorite memories (we especially love photos!) on our Facebook page.
