On Shore—Both MI & WI

Auto Attendant

This shore position is responsible for the loading and unloading of passenger vehicles onto the Badger in the safest but fastest manner possible. The hours for this position are flexible. You can work mornings only, evenings only or both if you choose! Additional responsibilities include handling passenger’s baggage, assisting navigation during docking, the removal of garbage and recycling from the car deck, shoreside maintenance, and grounds keeping of LMC property. Starting pay is $13.00 p/hour. Benefits include 401K, holiday pay, and a season-end bonus of .50 per hour for every hour worked.

Ticket Agent

This shore position is responsible for assisting passengers as they board the vessel. Working outside they are responsible for checking passengers and vehicles in and directing them on how to board the ship. Working inside, their responsibilities include processing tickets, answering phones, making reservations and issuing gift certificates. Excellent communication skills and assisting passengers in a friendly and helpful way is a must for Ticket Agents. Fulltime and Parttime positions are available for both morning and evening shifts as well as flexible hours. Cashier experience is a plus. Starting pay is $13.00 p/hour. Benefits include 401K, holiday pay and season end bonus of .50 per hour for every hour worked.

Reservations Agent

Possibly being the first voice that connects a passenger to the Badger experience, this shore position is responsible for taking telephone reservations in a friendly and helpful manner. You must have excellent telephone skills and be able to communicate clearly. Reservation Agents are trained to navigate the reservations system on a computer, but general computer knowledge is preferred. Starting pay is $13.00 p/hour. Benefits include 401K, holiday pay and a season-end bonus of .50 per hour for every hour worked.

Chairlift Operator

This shore position is responsible for operating the Badger’s handicapped passenger lift. The principal duty of this person is to assist handicapped and elderly passengers on and off the lift and operate the controls that bring the lift up and down during boarding and disembarking. Chairlift Operators are required to be friendly and polite, able to learn the fine details of operating a lift and is capable of walking up and down stairs many times per day. Starting pay is $13.00 p/hour. Benefits include 401K, holiday pay, and a season-end bonus of .50 per hour for every hour worked.

Cardeck Security Officer

This shore position is responsible for monitoring and controlling access to the ship from the car deck by all employees, passengers, and guests. Responsibilities include checking employee IDs as they come aboard, ensuring that only ticketed passengers are boarding the ship, and ensuring that no unauthorized vehicles or luggage are brought aboard. Security background is a plus but not necessary. Ability to be alert of all surroundings while maintaining a welcoming demeanor with boarding passengers is a must. Starting pay is $13.00 p/hour. Benefits include 401K, holiday pay, and a season-end bonus of .50 per hour for every hour worked.

On Board—Hospitality

Customer Service

Work to ensure customers’ safety and enjoyment. Tasks include, but are not limited to taking customer orders, register work, and maintaining cleanliness in the passenger areas. Must enjoy customer interaction and have the ability to multi-task. You can work three days in this position and earn 36-39 hours p/wk. Prior retail experience is a plus, but not required. Starting pay for days is $13.00 p/hour starting pay for nights is $13.35. Both positions include tips, holiday pay, 401K, and a season-end bonus of .50 for every hour worked! Gift Shop Associate

Responsible for neatly stocking shelves, product inventory, retail sales, and merchandising in the Badger’s onboard gift shop. You must enjoy customer interaction, and take pride in keeping the gift shop neat, attractive, and organized. Retail/Cashier experience is a plus but not required. You can work three days in this position and earn 36-39 hours p/wk. Starting pay for days is $13.00 p/hour starting pay for nights is $13.35. Housekeeping

If you can work independently, stay on task and take pride in your work, this job is for you! Responsible for keeping all general passenger areas, secondary passenger areas, and passenger staterooms clean and orderly. This position allows you to walk freely through passenger areas offering assistance when necessary and giving care and comfort to passengers throughout the voyage. You can work three days in this position and earn 36-39 hours p/wk. Starting pay for days is $13.00 p/hour starting pay for nights is $13.35. Bingo Caller/Entertainer

Responsible for the daily passenger entertainment that is offered aboard the Badger. Entertainers have the ability and confidence to interact with a diverse group of people of all ages. We invite Entertainers to bring their talents to the job whether it’s juggling, musical talent, card tricks, or telling a good story. You can work three days in this position and earn 36-39 hours p/wk. Starting pay for days is $13.00 p/hour starting pay for nights is $13.35. Galley Day Cook

The Galley team works together to create a clean and positive environment to provide excellent meals for both the crewmembers and passengers. We encourage cooks to bring their own style of cooking and recipes for meals and baked goods. Responsible for assisting Galley Manager in planning weekly menus, preparing, and presentation of food served; maintaining the highest standard of food quality and cleanliness. Prior cook experience required. You can work three days in this position and earn 36-39 hours p/wk. Starting pay for days is $17.00 p/hour. Galley Night Cook

Works independently to provide an evening meal for the crewmembers and preps food for the day shift. Responsibilities include baking, stocking, and cleaning galley areas. Must be self-driven, manage time wisely, and have prior cooking experience including baking. Starting pay is $17.35 p/hour. Benefits include holiday pay, 401K, and a season-end bonus of .50 for every hour worked! Hiring both MI & WI residents.

Galley Day and Night Prep Cooks

These positions assist the Lead Cook on duty in preparing, serving, and presenting passenger and crew meals. They prepare cold and hot food items in large quantities. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to unloading of ship supplies, maintaining on-board stock, and cleaning galley areas. These positions are often given an opportunity to present the main course or baked goods to the crew. Prior cooking/baking experience including working a flat grill is preferred. You can work three days in this position and earn 36-39 hours p/wk. Starting pay for days is $14.00 p/hour. Starting pay for nights is $14.35 p/hour. Galley Utility

The Galley Utility position utilizes the onboard dishwashing machine for proper cleaning of all kitchen equipment and utensils. Provides meal set up for crew meals, assists with maintaining a clean galley, and loading/stocking galley supplies. This position is the perfect entry-level position! Room for advancement, either within the galley or other departments. Get 36-39 hours working three days a week! Ideal candidates will be able to work from May 12th to Oct 16th but we are willing to work around your school/work schedule. Starting wage is $13.00 p/hour plus holiday pay, 401K and season-end bonus for every hour worked.

On Board—Deck & Engine

Night Patrolman

This shipboard position works under the direction of the Mate on watch and is responsible for making rounds of 15 punch clock stations. Is also responsible to check all Fire-Safe doors. Ability to be alert of all surroundings while maintaining a pleasant demeanor with passengers; reporting any suspicious activity to the Mate on Watch. Candidates must have the ability to climb flights of stairs several times in one evening. The Patrolman is required to hold or have the ability to obtain a USCG Merchant Mariner Credential and a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC). Starting pay for this position is $13.35 p/hour. Benefits include 401K, holiday pay and a season-end bonus of .50 per hour for every hour worked.

Entry Level Deck (OS)

An entry-level position in the Deck Department. The OS performs deck department functions including line handling, deck maintenance, and fire/lifeboat/emergency duties. The OS can expect to live aboard the ship and stand a 4-hour watch, twice a day, 7 days per week during the sailing season of May to October. The OS is required to hold or have the ability to obtain a USCG Merchant Mariner Credential and a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC). Starting pay for this position is $18.09 p/hour for the first 90-day probationary period. Pay after 90 days is $20.82 with eligibility for benefits which include medical, dental, vision, and 401K.

Qualified Member of the Engine Department (QMED)

Candidates must possess a Merchant Mariner's Credential with QMED (Fireman/Oiler/Watertender) endorsement, a current Medical Certificate, and a valid TWIC card. QMED will expect to live aboard and stand a 4-hour watch, twice a day, 7 days a week during the 2022 sailing season (mid-May through mid-October) Competitive wages, Holiday pay, and benefits package after completing a 90-day probationary period includes medical, dental vision and 401K. Mandatory Pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check. Starting pay of $28.34 p/hour. Overtime pay of $43.37 p/hour.

Entry Level Engine

An entry-level position in the engine room. The coal passer assists the Fireman in operating and maintaining the ship's boilers and conveyor equipment. The coal passer can expect to live aboard the ship and stand a 4-hour watch, twice a day, 7 days per week during the sailing season. Mandatory Pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check. The coal passer is required to hold or have the ability to obtain a USCG Merchant Mariner Credential and a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC). Starting pay of $18.09. After 90 days probation, pay is $20.41 and eligible for health, dental, vision, and 401K. Holiday pay and available 8 hours of overtime per check.

Able Bodied Seaman (AB)

Under the direction of the Mate on watch, the AB is responsible for assisting with supervising the deck crew. Assists in loading and unloading the ship as well as performing deck maintenance and other projects as required. Experience in line handling and winches is a plus. The AB can expect to live aboard the ship and stand a 4-hour watch, twice a day, 7 days per week for the 2022 sailing season (mid-May to mid-Oct). Candidates must possess a Merchant Mariner Credential with AB-Unlimited endorsement, a current Medical Certificate, and a valid TWIC card. Mandatory physical, drug screen, and background check. Eligible for benefits after completing a 90-day probationary period. Starting pay for AB Wheelsman $29.42 p/hour. Starting pay for AB Watchman is $28.91 p/hour. Both guaranteed Holiday pay and available 8 hours of overtime p/check.
